Wine
Produced and bottled for Esprit Carrel by the family-owned company Grosjean.
"Get to know the faces and passions behind each label because wine is not just made of grapes and work, but also, and above all, of people, stories, and passions. The story of Grosjean Vins is the story of a family. Valuing the territory in which we live, protecting it, being its custodians. For us, making wine is not just a job, but a real way of life."
Esprit Carrel has embraced the "adopt a cru" initiative, which allows firsthand experience of cultivating, growing, and producing excellent wine. We have adopted two rows of native grape varieties, the well-known Valdostan white wine, Petite Arvine, and the red wine, Fumin.
Petite Arvine, the small mountain grape
Originally from Valais, Switzerland, Petite Arvine quickly adapted to the poor and steep soils of Valle d'Aosta, at altitudes ranging from 600 to 900 meters.
Fumin
It is considered by many as the King of red wines in Valle d'Aosta, among the most prestigious grapes cultivated in the region. It is a late-ripening grape variety, requiring steep slopes and southwest exposure. It is typically harvested between late October and early November. For the past 30 years, the brave vignerons of Valle d'Aosta have been vinifying it as a single variety, thanks in part to climate warming, which promotes phenolic ripening. Extended aging in wood, preferably in barriques or tonneaux, is necessary in winemaking to soften its sharper notes.
